In 2016, I visited Maison Mougis in Normandy, where I captured the original photos that derived in these images. It is been said that Merlin the Wizard lived there. Every night, before going to sleep, I feel a little nervous, while I wait for a luminous dream or a dark nightmare to come. Both are exciting possibilities, probably because there is always some light in the nightmares and some darkness in dreams. Darkness attracts us, pulls us to see what does it hides. If during a nightmare we manage to overcome the fear and find outlets, we can find rather gratifying surprises: flashes of our own experiences that help us draw conclusions and positive resolutions; thus I find beauty in darkness, like the transformation of bitter to sweet. As in dreams, the proportions of the images in this photo series decontextualize the object, making it comprehensible only from a certain angle. Textures and colors allow us to go beyond the first plane, transcending the darkness to delve into images that evoke planets, volcanoes with craters, the surface of the moon or huge flowers suspended in the rough. They are what our dreams -or our nightmares- allow us to imagine. They are the light and the dark holding hands, because like we well know, one doesn't exist without the other.
