Sireno (male mermaid) is one of his main pieces of art. The name of this work is not accidental: this piece is not called Triton; it's called Sireno, and it evokes the mythical beauty of those fish-shaped figures, capable of captivating anyone who hears their singing and observes their silhouettes. Sireno is an ode to alternative masculine identities, to liberation and self-identity construction through language in the postmodernity times

LUSH
Mariana Corcuera, Mexico
Federico Fernández, Argentina
Stuart Sandford, United Kingdom
Photography is a form of the exuberant, or in other words, the photographic can produce pleasant cerebral experiences in the viewer. The sensorial encounter with a powerful image is capable of evoking stimulating experiences that inhabit our imagination.
The photographic works exhibited in Lush, liberate the images from the empire of the internet screen —or Instagram— to be enjoyed as the sum of its mechanics, materials, supports, dimensions, context, chemistry and software that together incite all senses, provoking different forms of the lavish during challenging times.
Corcuera, Fernández and Sandford, reconsider photographic traditions to implement new skills incorporated into contemporary repertoire; including different supports such as chiffon, sculpture based on 3D-photography, collage of polaroids, digital prints or reporgraphs, showing that the formal conclusion of a photographic work redeems the image from the virtual, turning it into something real.
Flesh, fruits, flowers, produce, fluids and bodies inspire voluptuous ideas in our minds —in a post-disciplinary art era— in which photography freely displays gestures from the analog, digital, pictorial and sculptural.
The collection of images by Corcuera, Fernández and Sandford presented in Lush, are the ingredients of a synesthetic artistic practice to season our unprecedented times in which we consciously savour to feel alive.
