ALMANAQUE-fotográfica, is honored to present at Zona Maco Foto 2023, a group show with works for sale by four established artists of photography with recognized international trajectory, all of which are part of the collections of important museums of the world. Vintage and contemporary pieces which explore different visions, times and looks to the-private and the-public realms of Mexico City.

Bob Schalkwijk. Rotterdam, 1933. (Lives and works in México City. ALMANAQUE-fotográfica presents to Zona Maco a selection of his individual exhibition on view at the gallery: “DF - 60’s” curated by PhD. Aldo Solano Rojas

“Continuing the tradition of city photographers, Bob skilfully portrayed how the Mexican capital was transformed in all its aspects to become a great modern capital. The architecture, the street vendors, the press, the traffic and the avenues, the new housing units and the ways of using the public space are, in Bob's work, a series of layers that make up the city that, despite having different rhythms and different ages coexist at all times. This is Mexico City, a series of geological and social layers that come together anachronistically.”

Tatiana Parcero Mexico City, 1967. (Lives and works in Buenos Aires). Master of Arts (NYU & ICP), BA in Psychology (UNAM), since 1989 her work has been exhibited around the world, including the MoMA in 2022 at the exhibition: “Photographs by Women Artists from Helen Kornblum collection!

“8-M” is the title of her new series presented for the first time by ALMANAQUE-fotográfica at Zona MAco. True to her style she fuses her body with those of thousands of women marching along Avenida de la Reforma in Mexico City, in the endearing mass demonstrations of 8-M, which commemorates International Women's Day to claim their legitimate rights.

Jorge Miño. Argentina, 1973 (Lives and works in Buenos Aires). With oeuvre at the collections of museums: MALBA, Modern Art of Buenos Aires, the Kirchner Cultural Center and Jan Mulder Collection, his practice explores geometrism, abstraction and landscape.

His new series The Friendship Route, explores the most emblematic feat of the so-called "Cultural Olympics" conceived by Ramírez Vázquez, Mathias Goeritz and Herbert Bayer, to show Mexico as a cultural power, lover of its traditions, its popular cultures and its contemporary art. This series describes the formality of each sculpture, mixed with its strangely uninhabited environment, referring to its original objective of integrating a collective route that would be kinetically activated when seen in motion.

Yvonne Venegas. Long Beach, 1970 (Lives and works in Mexico City)  a multi awarded and very well esteemed Mexican photographer, will present new images of the series whose first part, which began in 2019 and was suspended during the pandemic, won the Casa Cuervo Acquisition Award in 2020.

The pencil of nature: “In making this series, my interest was to pursue a search to explore sexual or gender difference, female mystification, and the ways of posing that are familiar to the women in these images. The objective is to rethink masculine styles through the photographs that have marked my visual education and find ways that go beyond the binary from where we are represented and represent others. “
