Leigh Merrill
Leigh Merrill. (Ohio, USA 1978) Lives and works in Dallas, Texas. Working primarily withphotography, Merrill creates digital photo collages that explore our contemporarylandscapes and the impact of desire, simulation, and perception on our environments.
With a BFA from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico and her MFA from Mills College in Oakland, California, Leigh Merrill is currently a professor ofphotography at East Texas A&M University.
Leigh Merrill’s work has been a part of biennials, individual and group exhibitionsinternationally such as Centre de la photographie Genève, Switzerland (2024), Paris Photo, France (2022), the Fries Museum, Netherlands (2018), the Arkansas Museum of Fine Art ,United States (2024), Sichuan University, China (2016) the Phoenix Art Museum, United States (2007), the diRosa Art Preserve California, United States (2009), FotoFest, Untied States (2016 and 2026), and the Museum of Texas Tech University, Untied States (2012). Merrill’s work has been included in online and print publications such as the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Afterimage Magazine.
Her work is found in the collections including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Old Jail Art Center, the Museum of Texas Tech University, the University of North Texas Library Print Study Collection, and the City of Phoenix.
