Can "Khan" Oral, born of Turkish-Finnish parents, works and lives as a theater, film,
and music producer, performer and visual artist, in Berlin since 2002.
Living in New York City from 1992-2002, he owned the electronic record shop
Temple Records NYC, hosted downtown art events and parties, run three record
labels, produced and performed with a variety of artists and projects such as
Diamanda Galas, Julee Cruise, Kim Gordon, Kid Congo Powers, Little Annie, Captain
Comatose, Air Liquide, Jimi Tenor or Brigitte Fontaine with whom he won the
Qwartz Award 2012 for best song in France.
Laura Mars Gallery presented his photo-book/box-set “Angels Of Disguise”
(Fantome Verlag 2014) at Import/Export Kassel's Documenta13.
Group and solo exhibitions at PS1/NYC, Fundacion Meyer/Mexico, Gaîté
Lyrique/Paris, Haus der Kulturen der Welt/Berlin etc.
Up to date Khan released more than 300 physical records. His latest studio albums
“The Enlightenment Machine” (2014 AlbumLabel) and “Nicht Nur Sex” (2017
Shitkatapult) via Radom Noize Musick, “Lost Acod Tapes” (2020 Further Electronix).
Singing and touring with German techno duo Tiefschwarz on their latest album
“Left” out on Watergate Records (2015). Currently writing and singing for
Terranova’s new album to be released early 2021 on KOMPAKT.
The collaboration album "Wild Style Lion" featuring Kim Gordon and J Mascis was
released in 2016 on I'm Single Records. European Tour with Dinosaur Jr. 2017.
Khan runs his own publishing company Edition Acid and record label imprints I’m
Single Records (Morr Music) since 2008 and Temple Traxx (Metabanana.airforce
distribution) since early 2018. He hosts a queer monthly tea dance party called “T”
at Paloma Bar or Arkaoda Berlin including international DJ guests and live
performances.
