Große Soße | Patch Match

In the Große Soße series, extremely detailed photos of different liquids (showergel, egg yolk, yogurt) and aluminum foil are interwoven in this large scalerepresentations. Due to their physical presence, different depth effects and anintriguing conceptual approach, these images are a peculiar hybrid ofconceptual painting and digital image making.

The series Patch Match is based on the production of papier-mâché panels which variations in colors, forms and textures then tangled to create an uncanny and confusing backdrop for objects like a chair, a cucumber, coins or bottles playing in a scaleless landscape.
Photography is central in Roman Schramm’s artistic practice. Often oriented towards the playful, his practice resembles more that of a painter, sculptor or an installation artist than that of a photographer – objects are formed, pieced together, found, meticulously edited in Photoshop or 3D programs and then staged in new ways.

Since 2019 part of the process is a dialogue with an algorithm with unique results. This new way to arrange an image which fools both the eye and the body, is not only a change of production but of perception. It́s connected with a
transitional reconfiguration of affective embodiment itself.
